Jewish Wedding Traditions
A Jewish wedding is a beautifully layered celebration, rich in meaning, tradition, and joy. At The Hive, we understand the importance of every detail and are proud to accommodate each stage of this special occasion with care and precision.
The celebration begins with Kabbalat Panim, an elegant pre-ceremony reception. The kallah is seated and receives guests, while the chatan greets his guests separately, creating a warm and personal atmosphere.
A lively and meaningful gathering filled with song, celebration, food and words of Torah. The ketubah (marriage contract) is typically signed during this time.
The groom approaches the bride and gently places the veil over her face, symbolising modesty, sincerity, and inner beauty. This is often one of the most emotional moments of the day.
The bride and groom, accompanied by their parents, make their way to the chuppah. Parents often carry candles (our venue allows real candles providing they have glass covers) , adding to the sense of occasion.
Under the chuppah, representing the couple’s new home, the ceremony takes place with blessings, the giving of the ring, and the formalisation of the marriage.
Seven blessings are recited over wine, celebrating joy, love, and the creation of a new life together.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the groom breaks a glass, commemorating the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash (The Holy Temple) in Jerusalem. Even at this moment of greatest joy, we remember the loss of Jerusalem, and the ceremony concludes with the joyful call of “Mazal Tov.”
The couple spend a short time alone immediately after the ceremony, marking their first moments together as a married couple.
Our venue is thoughtfully designed to support each of these traditions seamlessly, ensuring a wedding experience that is both authentic and effortlessly elegant.
